Presbyterian Music Camp

Camp Tamarack – Bracebridge, Ontario
Synod of Central, Northeastern Ontario and Bermuda

Presbyterian Music Camp began as a one-time event to introduce the new Presbyterian Book of Praise in 1972. However, there was a demand for maintaining the camp sessions on an annual basis. Presbyterian Music Camp is a family camp and hosts a variety of ages and skill levels; families come together and participate in a variety of workshops, activities, and worship. The Gladys E. Montgomery Fund often allows for the participation of mentally challenged campers.

The focus of the camp is primarily vocal and instrumental music, campers can participate in choirs of different skill levels and receive instruction in guitar, recorder, and handbells, but there are also workshops in Celtic instruments and music, as well as drama and dance activities. At the end of the week campers have the opportunity to showcase their new skills and progress in a talent night. Presbyterian Music Camp also focuses on worship. Campers gather for morning and evening worship, and share a Communion service during the week. Presbyterian Music Camp takes place at Camp Tamarack in Muskoka and is part of Cairn Camps.
