The digitization of records is a practice recommended and encouraged by General Assembly through the Book of Forms (Appendix G) to support both preservation and access. In the event that an original record is lost or damaged, a secure digital copy would remain on file at the Archives.
If you choose not to digitize records through the Archives, we encourage you to create copies using an alternative method. For more information, please refer to our information sheet titled, Independently Digitizing Your Records. For records that are brittle or fragile, digitization through the Archives or another reputable professional service is strongly recommended.
PLEASE NOTE: All original records MUST be retained after digitization. Digital copies are intended to supplement original records and do not replace them.
