Christopher Lake – Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan
Synod of Saskatchewan
Camp Christopher opened in the summer of 1945. The Prince Albert Presbyterial of the W.M.S started looking for potential locations for a camp in 1944 and purchased a site owned by Mrs. C. Levall, located on Christopher Lake about 30 miles north of Prince Albert. The property was purchased by the W.M.S for $2200. In 1945 the W.M.S granted funds towards the erection of a new building, and space for a kitchen, dining, and sleeping area were built at the time. The first campers arrived in the summer of 1945. Starting in 1989 the summer programs at Camp Christopher were run jointly by The United Church of Canada and the Presbyterian Church, though the Synod of Saskatchewan retains ownership of the property. Camp Christopher offers a variety of programs for children, youth, as well as a day camp and a canoe camp.
